The origin of “National Boss's Day” dates back to 1958 when Patricia Bays Haroski registered the day with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Haroski was an employee at State Farm Insurance Company, working for her father. She realized there should be a day set aside to recognize and show appreciation for those in supervisory positions. Her father inspired her as she watched him run the company, continually faced with numerous challenges, but still managing to motivate and guide all his employees. She decided upon October 16th to honor her father, as it was his birthday.
Boss’s Day celebrations have now grown beyond America; it is now celebrated in England, Australia, and South Africa.
Hallmark first made Boss’s Day cards in 1979; they now offer over 50 different National Boss Day cards.
